:: Cake Stand - TRIAL and error
I seen this idea in an art book. I'm practicing making these little stands to put Christmas treats on for this years family get.
Glue a plate on an upside down glass. I had a extra cup that didn't match anything so I figured I'd do some testing on paining and lacing (yes lace again) on the plate.
I was going to do a shadow technique but decided I'd do a few on 1 plate and see how it looked. I drew a funky cupcake (real funky) and put gold dots (duh! Dots didn't show and it ended up looking wack). I used a lace pattern.
First I drew. Painted with marker (should of used acrylic paint but I was being lazy and that day, I went grocery shopping, making enchiladas, cheesecake and rice and I sanded down a table, posted below) so I was doing like 50 things at once).
Then I did a lace pattern with spray paint over it all.
I then put a clear coat to seal the paint/markers on the back.
I glued it on the cup with glass glue (be careful when doing larget plates because of the weight and weight of your baking items on top) and let it set for 1hr. Then I turned it upside down and this is what it came out like:

See the flowers look black (ugh) and the cupcake is wack, but the lace is cool.
SIDE BUSTIN': Use a clear plate if you can. If using a colored clear plate, buy an extra one to see if the colors will come out or you'll be sad! Also, try mix matching different cups or even old candle holders (watch the base though).
You can wash this in mild soap, no scrubbing on the bottom and IS NOT dishwasher safe. (duh).
Next I want to try a decoupage style.

:: Christmas Ideas
I'm placing this in this blog and my Cupkeiki blog because it's a little bit of both.
Last year I made a mess in my kitchen. I definately need to stock up on baking pans (since mine have mysteriously dissappeared at family functions) and mixing bowls.
For the kiddies:
:x: I got decorative bags at the dollar store (that's my hot spot)
:x: Hot Chocolate Mix (the huge one at Costco) and placed a sandwich sized ziplock baggie 1/2 - 3/4 full of it.
:x: A snack sized ziplock baggie full of mini marshmallows.
:x: Peppermint sticks.
After stuffing the bags, I tied them off with ribbon and I had got a big box of Christmas ornaments and each ornament I hand decorated with christmas drawings, their names all in silver mettalic permanent marker. Along with the year so that when they have their own tree and family, then can have an ornament from their childhood. =)
:x: I got decrative bags at the dollar store (again, that's my hot spot).
:x: "Fancy" flavored coffee from Grocery Outlet (shh, I gave everyone decaf. ahaha) and placed a sandwich sized ziplock baggie 1/2 - 3/4 full of it.
:x: A snack sized ziplock baggie with a few sticks of cinnamon (so they can place in the filter with the coffee for some additional smelling pleasure and cinnamon pop).
After stuffing the bags, I tied them off with ribbon and I had got a big box of Christmas ornaments and each ornament I hand decorated with christmas drawings, their family last name (all in silver mettalic permanent marker. Along with the year. =).
Ready Set Bake!
:x: Banana Bread Loaves (slices for those who had small familia like 1-3 persons)
:x: Lemon Pound Cake with a lemon glaze (I used the lemons from my great g-ma's tree mmmm)
:x: Mexican Wedding Cookies (although my mom loved em, I think they just tasted like almond cookies)
:x: Bourbon Balls (Chocolate Dusted)
:x: Bourbon Balls (Coconut Rolled)
:x: Bourbon Balls (Confectioner's Sugar Dusted)
I'll post recipe's later on my Cupkeiki Blog. It's not a long list. But when you have 1 oven, 3 mixing bowls, a whisk (remember no Kitchen Aid in my ghetto kitchen) and misfit set of baking pans....this was a task. I loved every moment of it. but sheesh storing and all.

I was on my way home minding my own business when a garage sale made me pull over. I seen dishes (a few matched but there were some misfit plates in the stack). I asked the lady how much. She said $2. I thought $2 per plate, no.....$2 for the whole stack! 10 plates fore $2? That's like....that's like....well it's cheap.
I took them home and prepped them to be party trays.
I baked my little kitchen out. On each plate was an array of tasty items:
